Golden Milk

A soothing, spicy beverage served hot or cold.

Makes about 16 ounces or 2 servings.

2 cups coconut milk – unsweetened and unflavored
2 inch piece of fresh turmeric root, peeled and grated
2 inch piece of fresh ginger root, peeled and grated
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon fresh grated nutmeg
2 tablespoons honey
¼ teaspoon freshly grated black pepper

In a pot combine all of the ingredients together, heat until just boiling, turn down the heat to simmer and cook for 10 minutes covered. You can use a diffuser to keep the heat low.

Strain through a sieve and serve hot or cold. Keep refrigerated until serving.
